Martial arts have no secrets for Doran. While pursuing his career as a psychoeducator, he practiced several martial arts since the age of 18. It begins with Jiu-Jitsu, then Taekwondo. Over the years he adhered mainly to Shotokan Karate and Taijiquan. Now black belt third dan in karate, he is in constant study on the relationship between karate and taijiquan which he studied for 25 years. Several instructors have come and gone in his journey that led him to the most comprehensive study of Yang style. Member of the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association, he continues his apprenticeship.
Tai chi is a bodily discipline of Chinese origin with a set of continuous and circular movements executed with slowness and precision in a pre-established order. It also places emphasis on the mastery of breathing. The practice aims to improve flexibility, strengthen the musculoskeletal system and maintaining good physical, mental and spiritual health. According to his followers, thanks to its meditative and the extreme precision of the gestures, tai chi would allow to soothe the mind and improve concentration, alertness and memory.
