Maria, Your Yoga Instructor for Montreal's West Island
I completed my Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Training certification at Hanu Yoga in South Beach, Miami. I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and fell in love with how yoga transformed my own life. In particular, I was able to heal my sciatica through my own yoga practice, which gave me a deep personal understanding of the benefits of yoga and inspired me to help others experience those benefits for themselves. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that yoga is not a competition. The only person you are competing with is yourself. I encourage participants to work at their own pace, listen to their bodies, and focus on their own progress and well-being.
In addition, I am certified in personal training and bring a background in advocacy for women, supporting empowerment, confidence, and well-being. I am passionate about creating welcoming, inclusive wellness experiences where people feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged to grow. I am interested in wellness initiatives, employee events, and private small group sessions and private individual sessions. My goal is to offer accessible, welcoming sessions that help employees reduce stress, reconnect with their bodies, improve mobility, and develop greater balance and self-awareness—without pressure or competition.
My combination of yoga, fitness, my Bachelor studies in Psychology and women’s advocacy experience allows me to approach corporate wellness from a holistic perspective: supporting not only physical health, but also confidence, resilience, and overall well-being. Finally, I currently hold a permanent position with Swissport at the International Lounge at Montréal–Trudeau Airport. In this role I am also the women’s advocate for the unifor union. Prior to joining Swissport, I spent approximately 25 years working in the public government services.
In addition to my professional experience, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English Literature. My education has strengthened my communication, interpersonal, analytical, and writing abilities. I have a strong interest in understanding people and their individual needs, and I enjoy finding positive and practical solutions in customer-service situations.
I consider myself highly organized, adaptable, creative, and comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds. My combination of government experience, customer-service expertise, aviation experience, and education has allowed me to develop strong communication and problem-solving skills.
